'Cows and Bulls' is an interesting & entertaining code breaking or number finding game. This is usually played between two players. In this game the objective is to find the secret number chosen by your opponent, in as few guesses as possible.
On a sheet of paper, the players each write a 4-digit secret number. The digits must be all different. Then, in turn, the players try to guess their opponent's number who gives the number of matches.
If the matching digits are on their right positions, they are "bulls", if on different positions, they are "cows".
Example:
Secret number: 4271
Opponent's try: 1234
Answer: 1 bull and 2 cows. (The bull is "2", the cows are "4" and "1".)
Secret number: 4271
Opponent's try: 1234
Answer: 1 bull and 2 cows. (The bull is "2", the cows are "4" and "1".)
Rules:
- All digits in the secret number are different.
- The secret number cannot start with zero. (for the 'official' Bulls and cows)
- If your try has matching digits on the exact places, they are Bulls
- If you have digits from the secret number, but not on the right places, they are Cows.
This game can also be played on the computer
